Cowdray Estate lies in the Southdowns National Park in the UK and is the former home of the Viscount Montague which was built in 1542 and largely destroyed by fire in 1793. The game of Polo has been played at Cowdray for over a century. Today, approximately 450 matches are played each season, with the highlight being the Gold Cup for the British Open Championships.
